Launch vehicle
I won the Miss India contest in 2010 and since then I’ve been a model. I have walked the ramp for various designers and also featured in print ads for a lot of brands. Action Jackson will be my debut film as an actor.
Casting coup
I met the producers while they were finalising the cast for the film. They told me that they were looking for a girl who was stylish but could balance acting, dancing and fighting. I gave a screen test but Prabhu Dheva thought I’d look too thin on screen. After a few rounds of the screen test, I guess they felt that I was perfect for the role.
Stepping stone
Though my hometown is Nainital, I was born in Delhi and later my family shifted to Chandigarh where I grew up. After Class 12, I moved back to Delhi where the Elite Modelling Agency selected me. I was just 17 when I won the Elite Model Look India Award. I was also selected to walk the ramp for the Wills India Fashion Week. Since then, work started pouring in and I never looked back. I guess, I just got lucky.
First Shot
I shot my first scene in February this year, it was a solo shot and they kept it fairly simple. It was a long day of shoot, but Prabhu sir and even the crew were very encouraging.
The takeaway
It’s very difficult to point out a single experience that would be the take away from the film. Everyday was a new day that taught me something different. The whole movie has been a great journey. I think apart from the technical aspects, I have learned a lot. I’ve also become more patient as a person. I’ve learnt to respect films. Now, when I watch a film that I don’t entirely like, I would not say upfront that it’s a flop because I know the effort that goes into making a movie.
Stumbling block
Since I was new to the industry, there were many stumbling blocks during the making of the film. An actor’s job looks easy, but there is lot of hard-work involved. The timings, the long hours of waiting and also being able to perform under any circumstances is not easy. It also requires a great amount of multi-tasking as you have to concentrate on many other details than acting. Thankfully, I’ve had a really supportive cast and crew.
Role model
I really don’t have any role- model in particular. I derive my inspiration from many things like people, music, art, etc.
Future projects
I have a three-film contract with my producers and I have a few meetings with other film-makers lined-up. I will announce everything as soon as something is finalised.
