Q. 1 You are looking more lithe than before. Is there a new fitness mantra?

Well yes! I have started kick-boxing regularly, and then four times a week I do TRX, a new fitness programme. It’s suspension training where you work out with a band which develops core strength and muscles.

Q. 2 What’s your home remedy for soft and glowing skin?

My mother always used to have an Aloe Vera plant at home. We made a face pack with the juicy extract by breaking the leaves, which we would then put in the fridge and use again. It’s really effective. For a clear skin I used to apply Colgate on my pimples earlier, but now Tea tree oil (Melaleuca oil which is taken from the leaves of the Melaleuca alternifolia, which is native to the Southeast Queensland and the Northeast coast of New South Wales, Australia) really works on them!

Q. 3 Is there a beauty product you always carry with you?

Kajal. It’s the quickest way for me to get ready. I just line my eyes with it, apply some lip gloss and I am done!

Q. 4 What’s your home remedy for hair care?

Oil champi (massage) with Parachute coconut hair oil. It’s something we have always been using and it’s still the best thing.

Q. 5 Besides a good massage, is there anything else crucial for lustrous hair?

What you eat is really important. Crash diets affect everything, including the quality of your skin and hair. It’s extremely important that your diet has enough protein. For external care, one must use good quality products because they will have the correct ingredients and not contain any cheap chemicals.

Q. 6 Which person, according to you has the best skin in the film industry?

I think everyone has good skin because they all look after it so well. But I think Alia Bhatt has very good skin. I thought she looked lovely in Imtiaz Ali’s Highway sans any make-up.

Q. 7 Coming to food, is there anything you would call power food?

That would have to be this vegetable juice I drink to detox. It’s a very strong, detoxifying juice, and not the kind you can have on a regular basis. It’s made with beetroot, a lot of avlas, and other vegetables like karela and carrots. I drink it twice or thrice a week.

Q. 8 Otherwise is there any particular diet you follow?

I am not really strict with my diet and do tuck into mango shakes and ice creams occasionally. But I eat everything in moderation. I have never tried any crash or a particular kind of diet. I eat a low carbohydrate and high protein intake.

Q. 9 Is there any philosophy you follow which keeps you happy and content?

It’s simple. Be yourself and never try to imitate someone else.

Q. 10 How do you de-stress?

Playing, and watching Kung Fu Panda with my son is very de-stressing. I even like indulging in my hobby of charcoal sketching.
