Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra box office collection: Kalyani’s blockbuster delivers 600% profit in 13 days, crosses Rs 200 crore mark worldwide

Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra Worldwide box office collection: Despite opening with just 608 shows in the Malayalam and Telugu language belts, Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra is now sitting at 1228 shows nationwide, with 871 in the Malayalam language and 357 in the Telugu language. The movie is very close to crossing the Rs 100 crore mark in India, and has already passed the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide. The film, starring filmmaker Priyadarshan’s daughter Kalyani, was released on August 28. Through positive word-of-mouth, Lokah has broken several Malayalam industry records, having overtaken hits such as 2018, Premalu and The Goat Life, to become the fourth-highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time.

According to trade expert Sridhar Pillai, the film has crossed the Rs 200 crore mark worldwide in just 13 days of its release. It is just Rs 68 crore behind Prithviraj Sukumaran’s L2: Empuraan to become the highest grossing Malayalam film of all time. While that film has been reportedly made on a budget of over Rs 150 crore, Lokah was made on a budget of Rs 30 crore, already earning a profit of over 600%.

Lokah, produced by Dulquer Salmaan’s production banner Wayfarer Films, earned Rs 5.25 crore on its second Tuesday, taking its collection to Rs 93.65 crore India net, according to industry tracker Sacnilk.

Directed by Dominic Arun, the superhero film witnessed an overall collection of 53.42% in the Malayalam language and 19.83% in the Telugu language on day 13. The film has also released in the Hindi and Tamil language, in limited shows.

Apart from Kalyani, the film also stars actors Sandy, Arun Kurian and Premalu fame Naslen. Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra is intended as the beginning of a full-fledged Malayalam superhero cinematic universe titled Lokah. It is the second big superhero film from Mollywood after the Tovino Thomas-starrer Minnal Murali. The actor also has a cameo in Kalyani’s film, where he plays the role of a goblin named Chathan.
