The trailer of Dulquer Salmaan starrer King of Kotha is out and it looks like this one’s going to impress all DQ fans. The actor, who is otherwise known for his romantic image, is playing a local gangster in the period film. The trailer gives a sneak peek into the film’s story where DQ’s Raju aspires to be a gangster or the ‘King of Kotha’, just like his father.
He grows up to be “the people’s hero” who has Kotha under his thumb and is also an alcoholic. Pleasing his fans, Dulquer also has a romantic track in the film with Aishwarya Lekshmi. It appears that the film’s plot centers around drug trade in Kotha and how Raju and opposing gang members are at loggerheads about the same. The film has all the elements of a mass entertainer and could be the next pan-Indian hit for Dulquer. In 2022, his Telugu film with Mrunal Thakur, Sita Ramam, became a nationwide hit even before it released in other regional languages.

Shah Rukh Khan congratulated Dulquer on the trailer of the film and wrote, “Congratulations on the impressive #KOKTrailer, @dulQuer! Looking forward to the movie. Big hug to you and wishing the entire team a big success!” Replying to his tweet, Dulquer said that he was a “fanboy” of the star and wrote, “Thank you so so so much Shahrukh Sir ! This is such a huge moment for me ! Fanboy forever 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻”
In an earlier interview with Bollywood Hungama, Dulquer had revealed that they actually reshot the climax of the film. He shared, “I actually started a production house because I wanted to take care of my films and ensure that they are given everything they need and deserve. At the beginning of my career, I had seen films suffer, maybe because of the production or some other department. Yes, we did reshoot the climax of King of Kotha, but it’s not because there’s anything problematic. I think when you watch the film in one continuous flow, it warranted something even bigger.”
Dulquer has previously stated that King of Kotha has been one of his most challenging roles to date. Directed by Abhilash Joshiy, the film is set to release in August.

Apart from King of Kotha, Dulquer will also be seen in Raj & DK’s Hindi web series Guns & Gulaabs which is set to release on August 18.
