Maheshinte Prathikaaram actor Harish Pengan passes away
Following Harish Pengan's hospitalisation, many of his colleagues in the film industry had turned to social media to request financial aid for his treatment and liver transplant.
Actor Harish Pengan passed away at a private hospital in Kochi on Tuesday. (Image: Screengrab) Renowned Malayalam actor Harish Pengan passed away at a private hospital in Kochi on Tuesday while undergoing treatment for a liver ailment. He was 49.
Following Pengan’s hospitalisation, many of his colleagues in the film industry had turned to social media to request financial aid for his treatment and liver transplant. Although Pengan’s twin sister, Sreeja, was prepared to donate her liver, the procedure couldn’t proceed due to the exorbitant costs involved, leading his relatives and colleagues to launch a fundraising initiative. It was while their efforts were progressing that Pengan passed away.
Known for his performances in films such as Maheshinte Prathikaaram (2016), Shefeekkinte Santhosham (2022), Honey Bee 2.5 (2017), Jan. E. Man (2021), Vellari Pattanam (2023), Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey (2022), Priyan Ottathilanu (2022), Minnal Murali (2021), and Jo and Jo (2022), Harish Pengan was last seen in the recently released Malayalam film Charles Enterprises. He began his career in 2011 with the movie Note Out directed by Kutty Naduvil.
Members of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) and actors Tovino Thomas, Aju Varghese expressed grief over the untimely demise of the actor.
