This ‘love’ affair knows no end!

With more than half a dozen films in May and June struck by the emotion, this affair with love knows no end.

Call it a stroke of coincidence but as many as half a dozen films with ‘love’ in their title are releasing in quick succession in May and June. And to think of it,it is not even Valentine season.

The love way seems to be here to stay, right from teenybopper films like ‘Luv Ka The End’,’Love U… Mr. Kalakaar!’ and ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ to ones of a different vein — ‘Kucch Luv Jaisaa’,’A Strange Love Story’ and ‘Love Express’.

“This could well be a record in the making”,comments a trade source,”In my three decades of keeping track of films being made,I have never seen so many movies with a similar sounding title. Yes there have been love stories made and released one after another but never has the word ‘love’ being used so frequently.”

Expectedly though, majority of these films are feel good affairs.

“Every character in the film is an exaggeration of someone I know”,says Shenaz who has written ‘Luv Ka The End’ (already released) and calls it as a semi-autobiographical affair.

Tusshar believes that ‘Love U… Mr. Kalakaar’ (coming next week) is what a Rajshri film stands for. “It is sweet, simple and like a breeze; you would constantly have a smile on your face”,he says.

For Subhash Ghai,’Love Express’ (releasing on 10th June) is about ‘Friends, family, songs, dance, masti, romance, fun and tears’,hence resulting in a ‘journey of love stories’. Though newcomers dominate the film’s cast,Om Puri plays a loveable ‘Sardarji’ ensuring that this ‘love express’ chugs along.

‘A Strange Love Story’ (releasing on 3rd June) is a thriller that has been in controversies due to tussle between producers and Riya Sen,hence ensuring that there is no love lost between them after all.

For the 27th May release ‘Kucch Luv Jaisaa’,producer Vipul Shah comments,”The biggest USP here is the coming together of Rahul Bose and (my wife) Shifali Shah. It is this pairing of a housewife and a gangster in this feel good romcom that will keep the audience smiling.”

There is no such promise being made by director Luv Ranjan though when he brings Pyaar Ka Punchnama on 20th May. “Well, you would see love breathe it’s last with our film”,he gives out that mischievous smile,”There are love stories but with a twist. This is the reason why we have laid down a set of rules in our love story; hence the title ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ and the song ‘Ishq Na Kariyo Kakke’.”

With Himesh Reshammiya unleashing ‘A Love Issshtory’ soon,Zayed and Dia arriving with their labour of love ‘Love Breakups Zindagi’ and Ramu threatening to change the demographics of love with ‘Not A Love Story’,seems like ‘love stories’ are there to stay in Bollywood.
