She has been christened appropriately. If Paris is the City of Lights, then no one lights up a party quite like Paris Hilton. Socialite and jewellery designer Queenie Singhs much-touted party for La Hilton was an ode to woman power. The pushy page 3 genius showed what a tour de force she is,not only did she host Paris party at the JW Marriott hotel minutes after her first solo fashion show at a bridal fashion week, she also beat her ex-husband Raja Dhody to it. He was to host Paris at an exclusive private soiree at his mammoth Worli home on Monday. But with Paris cutting short her trip,he had to cancel his party. The party was to start at 10 pm,at the pink-tinted nightclub Enigma,at the Mariott and guests began pouring in soon. Sushmita Sen came in early and hung around the bar with Queenies partner Farhad Taraporvala. Rhea Pillai and Sharmilla Khanna had their gaggle of girls around them Suchitra Krishnamoorthy,Rukhsana Eisa,Madhoo Shah. Delhi exported Kalyani Saha of Christian Dior, fashion designer Manav Gangwani and socialite Tanisha Mohan. Bipasha Basu came soon too,as did Avantika Malik, minus her actor husband Imran Khan. Laila Khan had new husband Farhan Furniturewala taking her picture on his iPhone every few minutes, and Pooja Bedi buzzed about busily. Everyone had a glass of pink-hued Moet or a Cosmopolitan in their hands, but all necks were rubber-bent to the entrance every few seconds. DJ Whosane tried to liven up the dance floor, but in vain. Where was Paris? Almost four hours after the invitation time, the lights came on. She almost galloped in,her arm around Queenie and designer-stylist Rocky S,and surrounded by a few burly bodyguards. She was dressed by Rocky S,in a cellophane-tight cocktail dress shimmering with crystals, and diamond-studded earrings designed by Queenie. She hit the bar straightaway, asked for a shot of neat vodka, tossed it and said: Lets party! Queenie took her around to meet almost every guest individually and Paris had something to say to everyone. The Blackberrys were out,she posed happily for personal pictures, her famous chin-down pout perfected. All our bold-faced names were bowled over, almost as if Madonna had just walked in. (Or is it Lady Gaga these days?) Are you having a good time? I asked her. Oooh yeaaaah, she laughed, getting jiggy. Are you enjoying Mumbai? I said again. Of course, look at all you people. She complimented Kalyani Sahas sister Manjari on her safety-pin-filled black dress. Oh excuse me,Im the one in Dior, laughed Kalyani, mocking jealousy. Paris took to the DJs console and played some Michael Jackson. She took the mic and complimented Queenie for her hosting skills and her looks. She apologised for being jet-lagged and late. Then she said: I love Mumbai, look at all you beautiful women. The men are hot too,but you women are exotic. Smart. Theyre the ones who will buy her handbags.
