Ladies vs Ricky Bahl: Learning from mistakes
Anushka Sharma dedicates her solo number Jazba from to the city that has given her so much love even as she learns to overcome her fears.
It was high tide and the sea was getting rough. I tried to be strong, but a huge wave came suddenly and tossed us over
Colorful lezim dancers, rushing dabbawallas, the bustling Mumbai locals and the dhols; thats the theme of Anushka Sharmss solo number Jazba from her upcoming movie ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’. The actor seems quite excited for two major reasonsone, this would be her first solo number of her filmi career and secondly, she wants to dedicate this song to the city Mumbai, which has given her so much love and affection and has absorbed her as a family.
I belong to Bengaluru but it is Mumbai that has given me fame. And this song gave me a chance to associate myself with the city, claims Anushka, adding that most of the song has been shot at real locations, with real people. For example,in a particular scene, the actor is seen playing cricket in an alley with kids from around the area. Also, the song showcases real drum players of the popular Nashik dhol. Even the railway sequence is shot at Mumbais famous Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus station. The shooting actually made Sharma nostalgic as she had shot the very first scene of her debut film,’Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ at that station.
In ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’,Anushka, who plays a perfect opponent to Ranveer Singh (Ricky Bahl),a con man, also met with an accident while shooting a scene that required her to ride a jet ski. It was at a beach in Goa. I was riding the jet ski with Ranveer sitting behind me. It was high tide and the sea was getting rough. I tried to be strong and handle the ski with full confidence, but a huge wave came suddenly and tossed us over, throwing us into the water. The actor felt that she failed to handle the situation. I was so scared. I started flapping my hands in the water thinking that I was going to die. Soon a rescuer came and pulled me up on to another jet ski. It was when I was being taken back to land where the entire crew was waiting for me that I remembered that I am a trained swimmer, narrates Sharma ,who wants to learn to be calm and take full control of a situation when such mishaps occur.
Produced by Yash Raj Films,’Ladies vs Ricky Bahl’ brings back the hit trio from ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’; Anushka Sharma,Ranveer Singh and director Maneesh Sharma. The film is set to release on December 9.
