The condition of popular ghazal singer Jagjit Singh,who operated upon at Lilavati Hospital after suffering brain haemorrhage,continues to be critical,said the hospital. This is to confirm that Mr Jagjit Singh's condition remains critical, Niket V Mehta,Managing Trustee of Lilavati Hospital,said. We have to respect the patient's privacy and therefore cannot comment further, he said. The 70-year-old legend is currently in the ICU after undergoing emergency surgery for brain haemorrhage Thursday evening. Brain hemorrhage is a known complication of uncontrolled hypertension or high blood pressure. In January 1998,Singh had suffered a heart attack,which led him to quit smoking. In October 2007,he was hospitalised following blood circulation problems. Bollywood prays for Jagjit Singh's speedy recovery. Expressing concern over Jagjit Singh's hospitalisation,film industry has come together to wish a speedy recovery to the ghazal maestro. "A man with a silken voice,effortless and so endearing in all the most important and popular renditions of his. May he recover fast. He has had a traumatic life after the death of his only son at a very young age in a rash driving accident," wrote Amitabh Bachchan on his blog. Lata Mangeshkar,who had recorded an album 'Sajda' with the singer wrote,"I just got to know that our favourite ghazal singer Jagjit Singh had suffered a brain hemorrhage and he's in the hospital. I pray to God for his speedy recovery."
