Danny Boyle to head Shanghai Film Fest jury

'Slumdog Millionaire' director Danny Boyle is all set to head the jury at the Shanghai Film Festival.

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ director Danny Boyle is all set to head the jury at the Shanghai Film Festival.

The Academy award winning filmmaker will helm the board at the the 12th Shanghai International Film Festival along with actress Andie MacDowell and fellow director Andrew Lau,Variety magazine online reported.

The trio will decide which movie is to be handed the coveted Jin Jue Award.

“When you have a city that is full of people and stories like Mumbai,Beijing or Shanghai,it’s just so much excitement and potential for a filmmaker. It’s like a dream come true,” Boyle said.

In Beijing to showcase his Mumbai based potboiler,approved for wide distribution in China beginning today,Boyle told the Xinhua news agency that he had never been on a fest jury before.

Boyle also said he was considering making a film in China.

The Shanghai fest will commence from June 13 till June 21. More than 600 features and 200 short films have already been submitted to the fest committee.
