Sonam Bajwa says she was typecast as a ‘pretty face who cannot act’, reveals why she is proud of Diljit Dosanjh

Actor Sonam Bajwa recently revealed her challenges during the early years of her career when she was typecast as a pretty face. She also expressed her views on the strong bonds she has built in the industry, including her bond with actor-musician Diljit Dosanjh.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Sonam said, “I want to do a lot as an actor, I have not been offered that kind of scripts. If I look back at my journey, a lot of people thought ‘she is just a pretty face, she cannot even act.’ Industry people felt that and said that. With all my heart I prayed and asked god to give me that one film which will shift people’s focus from how I look to how I act and that happened.”

Recalling an incident, Sonam Bajwa said that she was once replaced in a movie because the director was ‘not confident’. “A journalist called and asked me why I am not shooting for the film,” she said. The actor added that she did not know that the shooting had begun without her and said that her bags were packed.

Talking about her friends in the industry, Sonam said that she has very few friends. She opened up about her bond with Diljit Dosanjh and said that they are ‘professional’ friends but added that she was very proud of the singer after he performed at Coachella. Sonam said that she even messaged Diljit and congratulated him for Coachella.

Diljit and Sonam worked together in the Punjabi film Honsla Rakh.
