Sohini Ganguly breaks silence after baby’s ‘stillbirth’, doctor says ‘didn’t find heartbeat of the baby’: ‘Will come out with evidence and proof’
Sohini Ganguly has shared an official statement, requesting people to show some empathy as she and her family try to overcome this tragedy.

Sohini Ganguly, a social media creator, recently lost her baby during childbirth. After the unfortunate incident, the family accused the doctor of negligence that led to the stillbirth. While previously, Sohini and her husband, Anirban Dey Roy, were maintaining their silence, she has now come out with a statement on social media. Meanwhile, a woman who identified herself as Sohini’s sister-in-law, came out with accusations against the doctor. Addressing the allegations, the doctor has explained his side of the story as well.
In a lengthy post on Facebook, Sohini wrote, “The disaster that struck our lives on August 22, and what is happening across social media surrounding it, is beyond our imagination.” She added, “We are devastated by various people’s speculations and related discussions. Various videos, posts, the doctor’s video, and its comment section are making us both weaker during this time of grief. We have not made any official or unofficial statements from our side. In these five days, we did not even have the space to think about it. We did not want any discussion about this matter now, which would further disrupt our mental state. We will surely present before you all the details of what happened to us, and we will stand before you with evidence and proof.”
Adding that she and her family are currently not in a mental or physical state to respond to the questions or trolls, she said, “Please give us time; give our family a chance to recover from the pain of losing a child. We hope for this much empathy and help from you during this time of sorrow. We hope that this message of grief will deter you from spreading related posts on social media during this unimaginable, sudden calamity that has befallen our lives. Kindly STOP spreading posts regarding our acute loss.”
Sohini had been sharing updates about her pregnancy on social media for many months now. After the tragic incident, her fans have been sharing their love and support in the comments section.

Doctor reacts to allegations of ‘negligence’
In response, Dr Shivendranath Das, alias SN Das, appeared on social media to explain his side. “I received a call early on the morning of the 22nd from a woman under my care who had not felt her baby move since the previous night. She was a first-time mother. I was aware that her blood pressure was high, the baby was very small, and she was slightly older. I advised her to come to my home immediately. They arrived around 8 am, and after testing, it was found that the baby’s heartbeat was not audible, and the mother’s blood pressure was dangerously high. I immediately advised hospital admission with oxygen for further investigation,” News18 quoted him as saying, adding that Sohini was given blood pressure medication after that.
“On Friday,” he continued, “Sohini’s family called at 10:45 am and said that an ultrasound had been done somewhere outside and everything was fine. She also asked her to be admitted to the hospital. But they all wanted to go to the doctor once. However, after her admission to the hospital, his team and other specialists confirmed the absence of a heartbeat. Since I have not heard any heartbeat since admission, there was no indication to perform a cesarean section for the dead baby at that time.” However, Das alleged that Sohini’s family accused him of negligence, attempted to vandalise the hospital, and even tried to assault him at his residence in Kanchrapara in North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
Yet, he said, he went ahead with a cesarean that night. “During the cesarean, it was discovered that Sohini had concealed accidental haemorrhage. Later, I informed the patient’s family that the necessary infrastructure to treat this case is not available here. If plasma or platelets are to be given, it will not be available here. So they transferred her. Blood was given. Now she is completely healthy. But since admission, we did not find any heartbeat of the baby. So the question remains about the first ultrasound report… It is sad for me too. But I did not go inside and kill the baby. Out of 100 pregnant mothers, 5 percent die without any reason. In this case, there was a reason,” he maintained.
