Bollywood actor Rajkummar Rao, who is gearing up for the release of his next film, Srikanth, has opened up about a fascinating piece of advice given to him by Shah Rukh Khan. Shah Rukh advised him to buy a house beyond his means, suggesting that it would motivate him to work even harder. In an interview with Mashable, Rajkummar said,Shah Rukh sir had taught me one thing ‘Beta kabhi bhi ghar lega na, toh aukaat se thoda zyaada lena. Kyunki phir na, upar wala bhi dekhta hai aur tu khud bhi zyada mehnat karega (Son, whenever you buy a house, buy one a little beyond your means. That way, you’ll work harder because you’d want to earn it).’ I found this very fascinating.” He added, “Having a home in the city is of course a dream and we have built it lovingly, me and Patralekhaa.”

Rajkummar’s house is a luxurious spread, reportedly spanning 3456 square feet. The actor acquired this premium property, previously owned by his Mr and Mrs Mahi co-star Janhvi Kapoor, who purchased it in 2020. Rajkummar and his wife Patralekhaa finalised the property deal in 2022 for a sum of Rs 44 crore.

SRK had previously revealed that Mannat was also beyond his means. At the launch of Gauri Khan’s coffee-table book My Life In Design, SRK said. “When we bought Mannat, it was way beyond our means, and once we were done buying the house, we didn’t have money to decorate it. We hired a designer, only to realise we couldn’t afford him.”

Previously, in an interview with Humans of Bombay, Rajkummar had heaped praise on the Pathaan actor. “There’s a lot to learn from [Shah Rukh Khan]. Shah Rukh sir, the way he treats you, the way he gives you so much of respect. His whole attention is on you. He’s present, that’s a great quality. Just to listen to someone. At every party, he would go down three floors, come to your car, open the door for you, make you sit and say bye to you till you are out of his sight,” he had said.

The biographical drama Srikanth is all set to release in theatres on May 10. The film also stars Jyothika, Alaya F and Sharad Kelkar.
