Shah Rukh Khan,Deepika Padukone’s Chennai Express releases today

Expectations from <i>Chennai Express</i> are pretty much sky-high.

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s much-awaited rom-com Chennai Express,directed by rohit Shetty is finally releases today.

After having tickled his way into our hearts with films like Bol Bachchan and the Golmaal series,expectations from Chennai Express are pretty much sky-high.

Set in south India,Chennai Express is a love story between Rahul,played by Shah Rukh and Meena,played by Deepika Padukone.

The trailer gave us a peek of some of the over-the-top action that Rohit Shetty’s films are famous for.

Deepika Padukone on the other hand had us in giggles with her south-Indian accent,while Shah Rukh won us over with doing what he does best,romancing.

After having garnered much acclaim with their film Om Shant Om,this is the first time that Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan will reunite onscreen.

The film has already created a rage with its tribute to Tamil superstar Rajinikanth in the hit lungi dance.

The Chennai Express team,led by Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone,has been going all out with their extravagant promotions from major cities in India to abroad. Shah Rukh Khan,who has mostly followed the trend of Diwali releases in the past has opted for an Eid release this year,a slot that has usually been synonymous with Salman Khan.

Produced by UTV Motion Pictures in collaboration with Red Chillies Entertainment,Chennai Express will release in more theaters than any other Bollywood movie in the history of Indian cinemas overseas.

In fact,the movie is releasing in 50 plus countries and in 700 plus screens which makes it the widest simultaneous world release for an Indian film.

Apart from this,the film will also be releasing in Morocco,Germany,Switzerland,Austria,France,Peru and Israel and that too on the same day and date.

Not only is the film releasing in different parts of the globe,it will also release in different languages – English,French,Spanish,Arabic,German,Hebrew,Dutch,Turkish and Malay.

Though the film is officially releasing on August 9,the makers have decided to have the largest Paid preview release in Bollywood’s history.

According to sources,all major multiplex chains are screening 10-12 shows from Thursday evening.

We hear the film is expected to collect approximately Rs. 5 crores on Thursday,which would be double of that of 3 Idiots.
