51-year-old woman dies by suicide in Dindoshi; children say she was under depression

A 51-year-old woman allegedly died by suicide in Dindoshi, Goregaon (East), on Monday morning. The police said they did not find a suicide note at her home.

The Dindoshi police have registered a case of accidental death and are inquiring with the woman’s family members and relatives to determine what led her to take the extreme step.

According to police, the woman was staying in the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) building in the Dindoshi area along with her two sons and daughters, all above 18 years. During a preliminary inquiry, the police learnt that the woman killed herself around 7 am, when her children were sleeping in the bedroom.

Her neighbours found the woman lying in a pool of blood and informed her family members. A neighbour called the police control room. A vehicle from the Dindoshi police station reached the spot, and the woman was rushed to a hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival, said a police officer.

The woman’s sons and daughters said she was depressed. “We will verify with the doctor where she was getting treatment and inquire with the children to find out if there is any suspicion. The police will investigate all possible angles,” said the officer from the Dindoshi police station.
