Shabana Azmi, one of the finest actors in India, recently spoke about how in the earlier days, it was not about how much money they were making but about the vision to do something together and valuable. The actress, who was last seen in the film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani with Dharmendra, in a recent interview opened up about funding films from her own pocket and buying Vidhu Vinod Chopra a plane ticket when he underwent a surgery during the filming of Khamosh in 1986. Speaking to Zoom, the veteran star recalled acting in several films free of cost. She said, "I have done a number of films for free including Earth. There are so many films, you won't believe it, we paid from our pockets. Will anybody do that in today's date?" She added, "I was doing this film with Babu Ram Ishara and then they suddenly said this film can't be made because there's not enough cash. I gave him money to make that film."
