Success never comes easy, and the stories of yesteryear superstars are a validation for the same. Otherwise, who would have thought Shatrughan Sinha, who ruled the cinemas in the 70s and 80s, would face a tough time? The struggle was so bad that he would sometimes have to choose between food and saving time on travelling. The revelation was made recently by his son Luv Sinha, who is set to star in Gadar 2.

In a chat with Siddharth Kanan, Luv shared that whatever he’s learned, it’s from his father. He shared that he’s heard stories of his difficult times before he made it big. “There were times when he had to choose either travelling by bus for his meetings or save the money for food. Sometimes he would eat and walk miles and sometimes, to save time, he would let go of food,” the emotional son recalled.

He added that given Shatrughan Sinha had left his home in Patna to build a career in films, he would often be left with fear and apprehensions about whether he would make it as an actor. Luv added that his father’s family had a lot of hopes from him and the superstar did not want to ever return as a failure.

“There were times when he was at his peak that our house, even though small at that time, was filled with people. And then when his films were not working, no one would be around. I have seen both the rise and the fall, closely,” he added.

Luv Sinha was also asked about the love-hate relationship between his father and Amitabh Bachchan. The two actors were known to be like brothers but have also spoken about rivalry between them. The young actor said that given he was quite young then, he doesn’t know much about what happened between them. He added that however, he respects ‘Amit uncle and his family’, and spoke about Abhishek Bachchan’s journey and how he’s proven himself over the years.

“As for the rivalry, when there are two outstanding actors, competition tends to happen. It wasn’t for any personal issues though. There are also times when others try to manipulate you against each other. That’s how misunderstandings develop. But maturity is when you realise the truth and come back together,” he added.

Gadar 2 will see Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel reprise their roles of Tara Singh and Sakina. Apart from Luv Sinha, the film also stars Utkarsh Gupta, fame Simratt Kaur and Manish Wadhwa, among others.
