Deleted scenes featuring Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol, Waheeda Rehman from Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham resurface: ‘We need answers, Karan Johar’

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is remembered as a true-blue Bollywood drama with chartbuster songs, dialogues and larger-than-life frames. Here are some of its deleted scenes.

It’s been 22 years since the release of Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and it continues to be one of the favourite family dramas for the millennials. Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘adarsh‘ son Rahul and Amitabh Bachchan’s typical patriarch Yashvardhan Raichand and, of course, who can forget ‘Keh diya na bas keh diya’, remain favourite quotable characters of Bollywood buffs. But the fans of this ‘cult’ are mighty upset as they have just discovered a deleted scene of the movie.

A video on Twitter, which has been cut from a video on Dharma Productions YouTube channel, has gone viral. It gives a background to how Rahul and Anjali (Kajol) became rich after being abandoned by Yashvardhan Raichand. The flashback sequence has Rahul struggling to settle down in London. It also features a few romantic moments between SRK and Kajol. The video has them dancing together in their London house and also shows the time when she was pregnant. It ends with probably a dream sequence where Big B accepts Kajol and the Raichands are a happy family.

As fans found the video on social media, they expressed their disappointment with the scenes not making it to the final movie. One of them commented on the video, “Why would they edit the best ones?” Another demanded answers from KJo as a comment read, “We need answers from karan johar.” One of them also suggested deleting Kareena Kapoor’s college scenes and adding these, “These beautiful scenes could have been in the movie in replacement of poo’s college drama scenes.” A comment also read, “This shows the struggle as an answer to the question people had how is he still so rich after being disowned.”

Not just this, there are more deleted scenes of K3G which have been shared on Dharma Productions’ YouTube channel. A video shows a romantic scene between Shah Rukh and Kajol at Rukhsar’s wedding in the movie. In one of the videos, Karan also reveals that Waheeda Rehman was originally cast to play Amitabh Bachchan’s mother in the movie but she had to opt out due to unavoidable reasons. Also, Abhishek Bachchan had a cameo in the movie, but it had to be cut since the film was already 210 minutes long.
