Janhvi Kapoor charmed the audience by addressing them in Tamil during Devara's Chennai promotions. She also asked them for the same love that they had showered on her late mother, the legendary actor Sridevi.

After receiving praise from her Devara: Part 1 co-star Jr NTR for quickly grasping Telugu, Janhvi Kapoor is now being lauded by fans for her fluency in Tamil. During a recent promotional event for the upcoming film in Chennai, Janhvi charmed the audience by addressing them in Tamil, asking for the same love that they had showered on her late mother, the legendary actor Sridevi.

In a video from the Devara promotional event, Janhvi is seen addressing the crowd, saying in Tamil, “Chennai is very special to me. My best memories with my mom (Sridevi) are from Chennai. The love you’ve showered her is the reason me and my family are here. I will always be indebted to you for that. I hope you show me the same love.” Her fluency in Tamil clearly impressed Jr NTR. Janhvi continued, “I promise I will work very, very hard for it. Devara is very special to me, and I really hope from the bottom of my heart that you enjoy what we’ve made.”

Fans, too, were quick to react to Janhvi’s command over the language. Many expressed surprise and admiration for her ease in Tamil, calling for her to be cast in a Tamil film soon. One fan wrote, “She deserves a straight Tamil film❤️ Her fluency in Tamil😭😍,” while another commented, “I was very surprised to see her speaking Tamil so fluently.”

Janhvi has had a deep connection with Chennai, as her mother had purchased her first house in the city, which the Kapoor family still owns. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala revealed that Sridevi always insisted her children speak Tamil whenever they visited the city. He shared on X, “Janhvi Kapoor’s mother Sridevi garu always insisted her children to speak in Tamil in their Mumbai home and whenever they came to their Chennai home during summer vacations… Hence Janhvi has a good command over Tamil.”

Devara is directed by Koratala Siva and also stars Saif Ali Khan in a key role. The film is set to release in theatres on September 27.
