Jaat box office collection day 2: After breaking several box office records with Gadar 2, Sunny Deol has returned to the big screen with Jaat. The film, directed by Gopichand Malineni, is produced Mythri Movie Makers, the banner behind the Pushpa franchise. After opening with Rs 9.5 crore on its release day, Jaat saw a dip in both its collections and theatre count across India. According to early estimates posted by industry tracker, Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 7 crore India on day 2. The film’s total stands at Rs 16.5 crore in India.

Jaat had about 5585 shows across India on the day of its release. However, on the second day, the number of shows reduced to 5141. Almost over 400 shows, including 100 shows in Mumbai and 30 shows in Delhi-NCR, were removed, impacting the film’s second day collections. While the Sunny Deol-starrer had an overall Hindi occupancy of 14.28% on Thursday, the film saw an occupancy of 11.19% on Friday.

Apart from Sunny Deol, the film stars Randeep Hooda as the main antagonist. The action-thriller also includes big names from the South, like Ramya Krishnan and Jagapathi Babu. While Jaat seems like Sunny’s attempt to break into the South Indian market like Shah Rukh Khan did with Jawan in 2023, the number of shows in regions like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai were also reduced on day two. In the wake of Jawan, several Bollywood stars have tried to adopt South Indian aesthetics in their output, but nearly every attempt has flopped. Most recently, Salman Khan’s Sikandar was barely able to cross the Rs 100 crore mark, and before that, the Varun Dhawan-starrer Baby John tanked badly.

Gadar 2 earned Rs 41 crore on the day of its release, but Sunny hadn’t witnessed a solo hit for around two decades before that. After Jaat, Sunny Deol is all set to star in Lahore 1947 as well as the sequel of his iconic film Border. Jaat also stars actors Saiyami Kher, Vineet Kumar Singh, and Zarina Wahab, among others.
