Bollywood actor Imran Khan, who has been dropping hints about his comeback, has now officially confirmed his return to the silver screen after a break. His last film was the romantic drama Katti Batti in 2015, where he starred alongside Kangana Ranaut. The actor recently made his first stage appearance after a long gap at the IFP Festival Season 13.

At the event, Imran opened up about his comeback and said, “I don’t have a clear answer, but I am reading scripts and having creative conversations with filmmakers. So hopefully, next year.”

Imran Khan made his debut with the film Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na in 2008 opposite Genelia Deshmukh. The actor also spoke about his debut film and said, “Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was true to what I am. In the ‘80s there were action films like Arnold Schwarzenegger movies but I never saw myself in those parts. I saw myself in the Back to the Future kind of films. I felt these characters were underrepresented in Indian cinema.”

A few months ago, a fan commented on a post on Instagram and wrote,  “Zeenat Ji ne bhi comeback karlia, patani mera @imrankhan kab karega.” Surprisingly, the actor replied to the comment and wrote, “Chalo Aditi, let’s leave this one to the internet… 1M likes and I’ll make it happen.”

Writer and host Nikhil Taneja shared pictures with Imran Khan from the event and penned a long note for the actor. He also gave a glimpse of the packed audience who cheered for Imran. Taneja wrote, “I got the opportunity – and very much the pleasure – to speak with Imran at @ifp.world, and he was just as warm and generous with his words, stories and anecdotes as he is on social media. This was his first stage appearance in many years, and it was a packed audience who came to remind him of just how much he’s loved and just how much he’s been missed.”
