Emraan Hashmi reveals he was asked to talk like Amitabh Bachchan during Footpath: ‘I had a fight during the dub because…’
In a recent interview, Emraan Hashmi spoke about his early days as an actor, and revealed how he walked out from Footpath's dubbing after a fight.

Emraan Hashmi has been amongst those few actors in Bollywood who have never succumbed to the pressures of the industry. Right from his first film Footpath, Emraan has aspired to make his own identity, and two decades later, he stands his ground. While his initial stint in Bollywood gave him the tag of a ‘serial kisser’, Emraan is more than this tag. In a recent interview, Emraan shared how he has made sure to maintain his own identity right from his debut film Footpath.

Emraan even recalled how he once fought while dubbing for Footpath after he was asked to talk like Amitabh Bachchan.
He shared, “I fought during the dub because…firstly dubbing is not easy. It was my first film, so there was performance anxiety. From behind the AD told me to mimic Mr. Bachchan, they were expecting me to talk in a baritone. That time I said that I have my own identity, I don’t want to come across as someone else. These kinds of things happen in the industry, so yes we argued. Eventually Vikram Bhatt dubbed for it. There was also a time constraint in that movie.”
Emraan Hashmi also recalled how he was replaced in another film even before Footpath. Recalling the incident, he revealed that it was Ameesha Patel who advised against casting him. “I was in the running for Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar, which initially starred Govinda and Ameesha Patel. At that time I was not mentally prepared for the film. I never wanted to be an actor. After Govinda walked out of that film, I was in the running, but then Ameesha said that I wouldn’t fit the part. I felt very bad that time. But now I understand why she said so. I signed Footpath 6 months after that,” Emraan said.

Emraan Hashmi also revealed that he shot for Footpath in 2002 and had given 40 retakes for his first shot. But when the film was released in 2003, his character Raghu received a lot of love from the audience.
Emraan is currently seen in the web show Showtime.
