Border 2 teaser: The teaser of Sunny Deol-starrer Border 2 was released on Tuesday, and it appears that apart from getting all their jingoistic beats right, the makers have spent a hefty amount on the visual effects. The short teaser introduces the characters of Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty and Diljit Dosanjh, who are all serving in the different branches of the defence forces, and it appears that Sunny Deol has reprised his character from the first film.

Sunny announces in the beginning of the teaser, “Tum jahan se bhi ghusne ki koshish karoge, aasman se, zameen se, samundar se, samne ek Hindustani fauji khada paoge (No matter which route you try to intrude through, land, sea or water, you will find an Indian soldier there.)” This is followed by visuals of Varun fighting on the battlefield, Ahan taking charge of his naval command, and Diljit taking on his fighter jet. But, it is painfully obvious that the film was largely made inside a studio, as one can clearly see the shoddy visual effects. Much of the teaser is composed of these green-screen-like visuals. It is yet to be seen if the trailer continues with the same tone, or if they will actually give some other visuals as well.

The teaser also introduces the female cast members – Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Anya Singh, Medha Rana; but, much like the first film, here too, the women are just restricted to the roles of playing partners to the heroes in the battlefield. Tabu played Sunny Deol’s wife in the first film but this time, it is Mona Singh playing that role.

Towards the end of the teaser, Sunny yells out and asks, “Awaaz kahan tak jani chahiye? (Where should our voice reach?)” as he encourages his troops to attack, and they respond, “Lahore tak. (Till Lahore.)”

The 1997 film Border was based on the Battle of Longewala. Border 2 is a sequel to that film, and the teaser claims that this is also “inspired by true events.” The teaser says that this is also set during the events of the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. The film has been directed by Anurag Singh, who has previously directed Kesari, Punjab 1984 and the first two films of the Jatt and Juliet series.

Border 2 releases on January 23 2026.
