Directed by Anurag Singh, Border 2 boasts an ensemble cast featuring Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Medha Rana, Mona Singh, and Sonam Bajwa. The film serves as a sequel to the iconic 1997 war drama Border, which starred Sunny Deol alongside Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry, and Puneet Issar. Directed by J.P. Dutta, the original film was a massive box-office success and became the highest-grossing Hindi film of 1997.

Who was Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya?

On 15 December 1971, Major Hoshiar Singh led his company of the Grenadiers to capture the heavily fortified enemy position at Jarpal in the Shakargarh Sector during the Indo-Pak war. Despite intense shelling and crossfire, he personally led the assault and seized the objective. Over the next two days, he repelled multiple enemy attacks, including those supported by tanks. Even after being seriously wounded, he continued fighting, manned a machine gun. Despite being seriously injured, he refused to leave his position.

Meanwhile, Border 2 had earlier found itself surrounded by some controversy. Diljit Dosanjh, who is part of the film, had faced backlash after his project Sardaar Ji 3, co-starring Pakistani actor Hania Aamir. The decision sparked criticism, especially since Indian cine bodies have maintained a ban on Pakistani artistes following the Pahalgam terror attack. Responding to the situation, Border 2 producer and T-Series head Bhushan Kumar had then clarified that the studio will not collaborate with Diljit in future projects.
