Bollywood actress Ananya Panday purchased her first apartment in Bandra in 2023, a milestone she describes as deeply personal. To design the space, she turned to none other than Shah Rukh Khan’s wife and renowned interior designer, Gauri Khan.

Interestingly, Ananya’s new home is in the same building as her father Chunky Panday’s residence, where she grew up. But unlike her childhood home, this one reflects her individuality. Spread across a 2BHK layout, the apartment features a pastel-hued aesthetic, a spacious living-and-dining area with a dedicated television corner, a bedroom for herself, and another room transformed into a walk-in wardrobe and makeup space.

For Ananya Panday, having Gauri Khan design her home was more than just a professional choice. “Honestly, it was a sentimental decision,” she told Bollywood Hungama. “I grew up around her, she’s almost been a second mother to me. She really knew me. She even said that if she were doing this for Suhana [Khan], she would have done something very similar.”

What Ananya Panday admired most was Gauri Khan’s collaborative approach. “Even though she’s known me since I was a kid, she took me seriously. She understood it was my first house and let me make my own choices. Everything was a conversation—‘Would you like this?’ ‘Do you want to try that?’ Interior design is so personal, and she respected that.”

Gauri also added her signature touches. In an interview with Architectural Digest India, Ananya revealed that one of Gauri’s key suggestions was to flush out all the doors, instantly making the space look sleeker.

Ananya Panday’s parents have noticed the difference in her attitude too. In a house tour with Asian Paints, Chunky Panday joked: “She destroyed our house a couple of times, but with her house, she is very particular.” Her mother Bhavana added, “You have to leave your shoes outside and hold your cup properly.”

Ananya herself was particular about features like an open closet. “I really wanted an open closet because I felt I couldn’t properly see all my clothes. This wallpaper was custom-made just for my home. I also wanted a vanity-style mirror with lights, something that feels like a film set.”

Although she initially resisted the idea of bringing pink into her home, she now says she can’t imagine it without it. “Something I was very certain about was pastel colours. Going through this process was also a journey of self-discovery—it was my first step toward understanding the kind of person I am. I had to put my heart and soul into it.”

According to reports, Ananya Panday’s house cost Rs 10 crore.
