120 Bahadur box office collection day 3: While Farhan Akhtar makes a decent acting comeback after six years, Mastiii 4 has scored an opening weekend higher than the first and third instalments of the franchise, but much lower than the second.
120 Bahadur box office collection day 3: Farhan Akhtar's film scores higher than Mastiii 4.This past Friday saw the release of two Hindi films as different as chalk and cheese. One was Razneesh Ghai’s period military drama 120 Bahadur, starring Farhan Akhtar, and the other was Milap Zaveri’s sex comedy Mastii 4, starring Vivek Oberoi, Riteish Deshmukh, and Aftab Shivdasani. While both films are going neck to neck at the domestic box office, the former enjoys an edge over the latter so far.
120 Bahadur vs Mastiii 4 box office
On Sunday (day 3), both 120 Bahadur and Mastiii 4 registered their highest single-day collections at the domestic box office yet. Farhan’s military drama collected Rs 4 crore, which was a minor improvement on its Saturday (day 2) earnings of Rs 3.85 crore. That was a significant (71.11%) jump from its opening day collection of Rs 2.25 crore on Friday.
Meanwhile, Mastiii 4 earned Rs 3 crore on Sunday, a slight increase from its Saturday earnings of Rs 2.75 crore, which was equal to its opening day figure on Friday. As per Sacnilk, the sex comedy has garnered an opening weekend collection of Rs 8.50 crore in India, which is a bit lower than that of 120 Bahadur at Rs 10.10 crore, which has at least hit double digits in the same time period.
The opening weekend domestic earnings of 120 Bahadur are lower than that of Farhan’s last theatrical release as an actor, Shonali Bose’s 2019 family drama The Sky Is Pink, which earned Rs 10,70 crore in the same time frame. However, it should be noted that the film released pre-pandemic and also starred Priyanka Chopra opposite him. In the last six years since, Farhan has only acted in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s sports drama Toofan, which dropped directly on Prime Video India in 2021.
Mastiii 4 vs Masti, Grand Masti, Great Grand Masti
Meanwhile, Mastiii 4 has surpassed the domestic opening weekend earnings of the first instalment of the franchise, which released back in 2004. Directed by Indra Kumar, and boasting of the same trio alongside Ajay Devgn, the film earned Rs 5.80 crore in the first three days. The sequel, Grand Masti, also helmed by Kumar, earned over Rs 40 crore in its opening weekend domestically back in 2013, almost five times that of Mastiii 4.
The threequel, Great Grand Masti, also helmed by Kumar, collected Rs 8.30 crore in its opening weekend at the domestic box office back in 2016. The fourth instalment, Mastiii 4, has scored higher although it’s the first film in the franchise not directed by Indra Kumar. But its opening weekend figure is almost three times less than that of his Diwali release last month — Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, a romantic drama starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa.

120 Bahadur, Mastiii 4 theatrical window
Both 120 Bahadur and Mastiii 4 have four days to enjoy the momentum as this Friday, November 28, will witness the release of two more films — Aanand L Rai’s Tere Ishk Mein, starring Dhanush and Kriti Sanon, and Vibhu Puri’s Gustaakh Ishq, starring Vijay Varma and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Both are romantic dramas, yet once again, as different from each other as chalk and cheese.
