TN 10th Result 2024 Declared: 91.55% students pass, Ariyalur best district

TN SSLC Result 2024 Declared: The Tamil Nadu Directorate of Government Examination (TNDGE) today (May 9) declared the SSLC results in a press conference which was held at 9:30 am. The scorecards have now been released at the official websites — dge.tn.nic.in or tnresults.nic.in.

The overall pass percentage this year has been recorded at 91.55% which is a minor increase from last year’s 91.39 per cent, and 2022’s 90.07 per cent.

A total of 8,94,264 students appeared for Tamil Nadu Class 10 exams, out of which 8,18,743 have cleared the SSLC exams. Out of these 4,22,591 were girls and 3,96,152 were boys.

This year too, girls have outperformed boys by scoring an overall pass percentage of 94.53 per cent, while boys got 88.58 per cent. However, girls’ performance has dipped a little as against last year’s 94.66 per cent. Of the 13,510 differently-abled students, 12,491 cleared the exam (92.45 per cent) and out of the 260 prisoners, 228 got through (87.69 per cent). As many as 8,94,264 students appeared for the LC exams in the state and of them, 4,47,061 were girls and 4,47,203 were boys.

The best performing district this year is Ariyalur, followed by Sivagangai in the second place and Ramanathapuram at the third place. Last year, Perambalur had emerged as the best performing district, while in 2022 it was Kanyakumari district.

The process for revaluation will begin from tomorrow, check details here. In Maths and Science subjects, 20,691 and 5,104 students got centum respectively. Only 8 students secured centum in Tamil and 415 got 100 percent marks in English.

In Social Science, 4,428 students scored the maximum of 100 marks. Subject-wise the performance has been as follows: Language (Tamil) – 96.85%, English – 99.15%, Maths – 96.78%, Science – 96.72%, Social Science – 95.74%. This year, a total of 8 students scored 100% marks in Tamil, 415 in English, 20691 in Mathematics, 5104 in Science and 4428 in Social science.

A total of 4105 schools scored 100% result this year, out of which 1364 are government schools.

Ariyalur (97.31 per cent), Sivaganga (97.02) and Ramanathapuram districts (96.36) registered the maximum pass percentage. As regards government schools, Ariyalur (96.20), Sivaganga (95.45) and Kanniyakumari (95.17) scored the maximum pass percentage.

Vellore (82.07), Ranipet (85.48) and Tiruvannamalai (86.10) were the districts to score the lowest pass percentage. Vellore (77.66), Chennai (79.07) and Chengelpet (79.20) districts saw the lowest pass percentage in regard to government schools. In total, 9,10,148 school students had registered for the examination and 15,884 of them were absentees. Of the 32,348 private candidates, 2,236 were absentees.

Also, a total of 260 jail inmates appeared for TN 10th exams, out of which 228 have been declared as pass. The pass percentage for jail inmates this year is 87.69 per cent. Last year, only 42.42 per cent had passed.

The Tamil Nadu education board does not release the toppers’ names as it believes that it contributes to an unhealthy competition. Instead, the board announces the best performing region.
