A total of 244 cadets of the Air Force Academy passed out on Saturday.
Two young officers, from Haryana and Himachal Pradesh, were commissioned in IAF on Saturday at the Combined Graduation Parade of Air Force Academy (Dindigul), which was reviewed by Chief of Defence Staff Gen Anil Puri. Flying Officer Mohit of Jhajjar and Flying Officer Hitesh Manhas were commissioned as officers in the parade.
Mohit’s story is a powerful testament to resilience and perseverance. Born in Jhajjar, Haryana, life tested him early — he lost his mother when he was just three months old. Raised by his maternal uncle and aunt, Mohit grew up in humble surroundings. He is the son of a hardworking labourer who instilled in him values of sincerity and discipline.
Mohit completed his schooling at government institutions and pursued his graduation and post-graduation in Commerce from Vaish College, Rohtak. To fund his education and support his family, he gave tuition classes — a reflection of his grit and self-reliance.
A young man of diverse interests, Mohit finds peace in nurturing Bonsai trees and precision in 10m air pistol shooting. His love for teaching and admiration for the armed forces led him to join the Indian Air Force as an Education Officer — a role that merges his passion for knowledge with service to the nation.
Similar is the story of Hitesh. Belonging to a small village in Kangra (Himachal Pradesh), Hitesh Manhas’s journey to the Air Force Academy is a story of sacrifice and unyielding determination. The son of a truck driver and a homemaker, Hitesh grew up watching his father drive tirelessly and skipping meals to ensure his children received an education he never could.
Despite financial hardships, Hitesh’s spirit remained unbroken. He could not clear the NDA exam but refused to give up. After years of perseverance, Hitesh finally earned his recommendation through the AFCAT exam, joining the Air Force Academy as a cadet in the Meteorology Branch.
