The overall pass percentage for both Commerce and Science stream has gone down drastically. Here’s why
In 2022, the overall pass percentage for the Science stream was recorded at 96.12 per cent, 89.20 cent for the Commerce stream, and 82.10 per cent for the Arts stream. Last year, a total of 3,21,508 students in Arts, Science, Commerce and Vocational streams appeared for the CHSE Plus 2 exams.
A year before that, students were marked on the basis of alternate assessment criteria as the board exams were cancelled by the state government due to the increase in Covid-19 cases across the state.

In commerce, the pass percentage was 81.12, down from 89.2 last year. As many as 24,082 students appeared for the examination in the commerce stream in 2023. While 12,121 boys passed the CHSE examination, 7,415 girls cleared it in the commerce stream.

Of the total 92,950 students who sat for the examination, as many as 78,938, comprising 42121 boys and 36,817 girls in the science stream, became eligible for higher studies.

In the Science stream, 49975 boys appeared of which 42121 passed recording a pass percentage of 84.28%. Meanwhile, of the 42,975 girls who appeared from Science stream, 36817 passed recording 85.67 passing percentage
In the Commerce stream, the board recorded an overall pass percentage of 81.12%. A total of 24,082 appeared of which 19,526 passed in the board exams

Under the Mukhyamantri Medhabruti Puraskar Yojana, the Odisha governmet will award Rs 5,000 each to the top 100 students. The scholarships will be given to around 40,000 students.
