IIM-Bangalore has also started its 4-year UG coursesIIM Bangalore has launched a new certificate programme on Personal Finance and Wealth Advisory (PFWA) in collaboration with FPSB India, the Indian subsidiary of Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. The programme is developed by the Centre for Capital Markets and Risk Management (CCMRM).
FPSB India is a leading authority in financial planning education and offers the globally recognised Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) certification, widely regarded as the gold standard of excellence in financial planning.
The PFWA programme blends academic rigour with real-world relevance and is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge, tools, and entrepreneurial mindset required to excel in the rapidly evolving financial planning sector.
Dr Aishwarya Krishna, Research Consultant at CCMRM, highlighted the programme’s strong academic foundation and alignment with emerging industry needs. She noted that the curriculum integrates microeconomics, business acumen, Bloomberg datasets and contemporary advisory frameworks relevant to today’s dynamic financial landscape.
Participants who complete the programme will be granted IIMB EEP Alumni Status. Graduates may also become eligible for the Fast Track Pathway to the CFP® certification administered by FPSB India.
The collaboration forms part of FPSB India’s broader strategy to partner with leading academic institutions to strengthen the financial planning ecosystem for the larger public good. Findings from the published 2023 FPSB Value of Financial Planning Research indicate that CFP® certification helps professionals expand their client base and enhance potential earnings, with many observing substantial growth within the first year of certification.
The programme launch event saw participation from senior programme directors at IIM Bangalore, members of the Council of Financial Planners (COFP), and delegates from FPSB India. At the event, FPSB India also formally accredited the PFWA programme, reinforcing its commitment to advancing innovation and scale in financial planning education.
IIM Bangalore also offers an online course titled Financial Accounting and Analysis: Core Principles for professionals across disciplines. Over five weeks, aspirants will know about the structure and elements of key financial documents such as the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, and statement of equity.
