The Delhi University (DU) on Sunday issued a clarification against a fake news circulating about extension of online classes. DU clarified that no such extension has been announced for undergraduate or postgraduate students. "In light of persistent deteriorated in Air Quality Index (AQI) across Delhi & NCR, the Competent Authority has decided to extend the online mode of classes till Thursday, the 28th November, 2024. The schedule of Examinations and Interviews shall remain unchanged. This is issued with the approval of the Competent Authority," a fake letter circulating in the name of Delhi University had stated. The central varsity took to its official X (formerly known as Twitter) account to share a snapshot of this fake circulating with a watermark stating this trending notice as 'fake'. A few days ago, too, Delhi University had to issue a clarification against a similar notice that had falsely stated commencement of winter holidays between November 19 and 27. The varsity had clarified that no such notice was issued by the officials, and instead issued a notice about conducting classes in online mode till November 23, 2024 owing to the alarming high Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi. Regular classes for all level students at DU will resume today (November 25). “The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi and NCR has deteriorated to an alarmingly high index. In the larger interest of students of the colleges and the departments of the University of Delhi, it has been decided that the classes shall be conducted in online mode till Saturday, November 23, 2024. Regular classes in physical mode are to resume from Monday, November 25, 2024. The schedule of examinations and interviews shall remain unchanged,” the official notification said. Meanwhile, all schools in Delhi, Faridabad, Gurugram and Noida will continue online classes due to the 'severe' air quality of the Delhi-NCR region.
