CBSE Class 12th Exam Maths Analysis: ‘Challenging assertion-reasoning questions’

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) today conducted the maths paper of Class 12. The paper was easy to comprehend and aligned well with the CBSE sample papers, say experts. The difficulty level of the CBSE 2024 maths Class 12 questions was moderate.

The assertion-reasoning format in the maths paper today posed a unique challenge, Satya Dev Pachauri, Coordinator – Mathematics, VidyaGyan School said adding that students found it demanding to link assertions with appropriate reasoning.

According to Shobhnath Pal, Billabong High  International School, Malad, the maths paper was moderate. However, sections D and E were a little challenging for students, Pal added.

Prateek Tomar, a student who appeared from the Modern Public School found the maths paper easy to medium. While multiple-choice questions were okay, most of the questions were regular ones, not too hard. Overall, it was fine, the student added.

‘Moderate and lengthy’

As per Deepika Joshi and Parmeet Singh, educator senior years, Shiv Nadar School Noida, the maths paper was moderate and lengthy with a few difficult questions in sections A and C.

According to Alka Kapur, principal, Modern Public School, the CBSE maths paper had well-crafted problems at a moderate difficulty level.

“While I found the overall paper to be good, students may encounter challenges in certain areas, especially with the difficult multiple-choice questions in Section A and the Maxima and Minima case study. Still, Section D turned out to be really simple. As far as teachers are concerned, the paper offered a good balance between difficulty and opportunity for both success and growth,” the principal said.

According to Vikas Kumar Gupta, HOD, mathematics at Silverline Prestige School, Ghaziabad, the Class 12 mathematics paper aligned well with the CBSE sample papers. 

“The provision of appropriate choices in the paper further contributed to student satisfaction, reflecting a successful examination,” the head added.
