The 8th Church of South India Madhya Kerala Diocesan (CSI MKD) North India family and youth conference 2011 will come to Pune this year from October 27 to 30 at Riverdale International School,Mulshi.

The 8th Church of South India Madhya Kerala Diocesan (CSI MKD) North India family and youth conference 2011,which begins today,will bring together over 400 community members from across India

The 8th Church of South India Madhya Kerala Diocesan (CSI MKD) North India family and youth conference 2011 will come to Pune this year from October 27 to 30 at Riverdale International School,Mulshi. This annual religious event for old and new members of CSI MKD parishes is hosted in rotation by churches across North India so that the members can meet and bond with each other as believers of the same faith.

With St Paul’s Malayalam Parish,Pune,organising this year’s programme,the theme is “Freedom in Christ” and eminent speakers like Susan Thomas,Rev Viju Varkey George,Rev Viji Varghese Eapen,Reji Jacob and more will speak on the subject. Over 400 delegates from across North India will meet for this fellowship and will interact with the newly elected CSI MKD Bishop Rt Rev Thomas K Oommen. The conference will be an opportunity for members to meet old friends,make new relationships and enjoy some respite from their daily stressful routines. “This is the most important meeting of people from our community,” says Rev Kurian Mathew,the priest-in-charge.The programme will begin with the hoisting of the flag,which is a symbol for the CSI youth and family conference,by the bishop followed by an inauguration ceremony by the Churches of North India (CNI) Pune Diocesan Bishop Rt Rev Vijaye Sathe. The chief guests for the occasion will be T C Benjamine,Principal Secretary,Urban Development,Government of Maharastra and Abraham Mathai,Ex Vice Chairman,State Minority Commission,Government of Maharastra. The conference will throw light on issues relating to women empowerment as well as peer pressure,drugs and alcohol addiction and other issues relating to the youth.

Apart from the serious issues that the conference aims at addressing,there is time for fun on Saturday,October 29. “Members from different parishes will put up a talent show and there will be fun activities for different categories of senior citizens,women,children,men,youth and couples,” adds Rev Mathew. The day will also host mini-tournaments for football,cricket and basketball in the school campus.
