Amar Chitra Katha pays tribute to the county’s erstwhile rulers

As the country celebrates Republic Day today, the heroes of our nation are remembered and tributes are paid to the martyrs. It takes us back to the initial years of a free India. “But the country’s fight for independence began even before the arrival of the East India Company,” said Reena Puri, editor of Amar Chitra Katha. ACK Media has released a special collection of Amar Chitra Katha comics to highlight the roles of the erstwhile kings and queens of India who fought against foreign invaders and plunderers. This collection, aptly titled Nation Builders, reminds one of the heroes from different dynasties and time periods who paved the way for an integrated nation to be formed.

Twenty titles, including Ashoka,Chandragupta Maurya,Prithviraj Chauhan,Vikramaditya,Akbar,Shah Jahan,Shivaji, have been re-released as a collection to mark this occasion. “In the past,we have brought out collections dedicated to the freedom fighters of the country. Hence we thought of highlighting the contribution of our ancient and medieval rulers this year. After all, they set the pace for defending the nation, consolidating the empire and administrating it well. This is our way of giving them a place in nation building,” Puri added.
