The man with many masks

Over the years,he’s donned many hats: A director,a producer,a writer and most recently,with Guzaarish,a music director. Sanjay Leela Bhansali,one of India’s leading film makers,was in town for Firodiya Karandak,one of the city’s biggest inter-college competitions. Expressing his eagerness to attend the contest in the coming years,he said,“I don’t want to be the chief guest or a judge,I just want to be able to come here,see them direct,see them practice. Even I can draw a lot of inspiration from them.” Overwhelmed by the talent on display,he said,“The spark and ambition you see in these college kids is hard to find in professionals. This is the new breed of actors and directors.” Bhansali was also all praises for the city and lauded its rich cultural heritage. “If someone asks me whether I want to go to Pune,or Paris,I would say Pune. It has everything- art,theatre,literature. Marathi music and literature are of a very high standard. In fact,I am a huge fan of Marathi music,” he said,adding,“I would love to come and make a film in Pune!”
