The Sadhu Vaswani Mission is holding a week-long celebration on the occasion of the 93rd birthday of Dada J P Vaswani
Giving up a fellowship in the D J Sind College,Karachi, earned due to his thesis on ‘The Scattering of X-Rays by Solids’ which had highly impressed C V Raman, was a turning point in Dada J P Vaswani’s life. Born on August 2,1918,Dada will be celebrating his 93 rd birthday in his ashram in Pune.
According to the Hindu calender,Dada’s birthday falls on July 26,which is a sacred day of ekadashi. Since Unite and build, has always been Dada’s message to people of all faiths across the globe, the celebrations for his 93rd birthday was inaugurated by the lighting of lamps which represented Muslim,Buddhist,Sikh,Christian,Hindu and all other religious faiths in the morning of July 24 for the ‘ Anand Akhand Kirtan’. Thomas Dabre,Rev Bishop of Pune, invoked prayers for Dada after which a group of singers dedicated hymns to him and engaged in worship.
A talk in Hindi by Dada himself titled ‘Kuch Ehsaas…Kuch Lamhein’ followed by ‘Khoj’ a play by Bridge Builders, the youth wing of Sadhu Vaswani Mission, based on a man’s search for divinity will be staged during the last weekend of July. It is a very special performance because we are dedicating our act to Dada. Last year he could not celebrate his birthday with us as he was recovering from a fracture he incurred in U S. We pray for his good health and hope he spends many such birthdays with us, beams Nilesh Tajwani, member of Bridge Builders.
The Mission also plans to launch a museum to provide insight into the life and teachings of Rev Sadhu Vaswani followed by an interaction with Dada J P Vaswani and actor Amir Khan. Day long celebrations will be organised on August 2,starting with recitations of Sri Japji Sahib,Maha Mritunjaya Mantra,Bhog of 101 Paths of Nuri Granth and Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Havan,Bhhajan,Kirtan and seva will continue throughout the day and the celebrations will close with a talk by Dada J P Vaswani.
The very thought of Dada fills me with an overwhelming sense of serenity. When I look into his twinkling eyes,I feel looking into the eyes of the Lord himself. It is indeed a blessing to be a part of the week long birthday celebrations of our beloved Dada, says Sanam Sadarangani, student from Bangalore. There is an unexplainable magnetic aura that pulls me back here time and again, she adds.
