On November 20,set aside time for this repertoire on Indian Classical Music at MES Sabhagriha,Kothrud. Titled Aanande Aiken,the show is a unique interactive session organised by classical singer Hemant Pendse,and Vilas Javdekar Ecohomes. The musical evening will include an informative session on the roots of classical music and an appreciation seminar for the city’s music lovers. Comprising of two sessions,the first will be a performance on ragas from Bhairav Thata by Pandit Shounak Abhisheki who will be accompanied by Bharat Kamat on tabla and Uday Kulkarni on harmonium. The second half,Sugam Gayan,will be based on the various ragas from Bhairav Thata. “Through this musical endeavour we are trying to look at several ragas which are related to the various moods of human mind in different times,” says Pendse. Poet and singer,Rahul Deshpande will anchor the second session where Suvarna Mategaonkar and HemantPendse will perform semi-classical songs based on Bhairav Raga.

The new party hotspot

The city’s swish set partied till the wee hours at the recent launch of Maya RLC,Wagholi. This restaurant,club and lounge,had DJ duo Dicca and Timo Higgs along with vocalist Aicha,flautist Alex and saxophonist DaveBo churning out groovy music. Designer Seema Singh’s creations were also displayed at a fashion show choreographed by Shekhar Sable. The duo behind this part space – Abbas Ibrahim and Cookie Singh – played perfect hosts along with Damini Oberoi who co-hosted the party. Among those spotted at the do were Sanjay Sabharwal,Annuj Goel,Amit Goel,Gautam Ladkat,actor Ayub Khan,actor Chimpu Kapoor,Tammana Madaan,Vishal and Preity Mody,Mohan Kannan from Agnee band,Mohammed Musavi,Ruby and Kapil Pashankar,Chetan Wakalkar,Anshul Goel,Praful and Cheeru Chandawarkar,Suraj Repe,Akshay Bhosale,Vidur Malhotra,Ajit Gadhoke,Neeta and Amit Kothari,Rohan Bhansali,Vijay Kapoor and daughter Prerna,Minoti Makim among others.

Blue Tone

The BuJazzO,a youth Jazz orchestra from Germany,is performing at the Symbiosis Institute of Design,Vimannagar,on November 25 at 7 pm in collaboration with Max Mueller Bhavan. BuJazzO sponsors qualified and talented young jazz musicians from Germany. The youth band is the winner of 1997 German Music Prize and has already performed in over 300 concerts in 15 international tours. The youngsters are ready to enthrall Pune with its Jazz and blue.

A concert to remember

Singer Suresh Wadkar and Bela Shende wowed the audiences at the Ganesh Kala Krida Manch with their mellifluous renditions of both classic and contemporary songs on Wednesday. The duo performed at a concert organised by Giripremi’s Pune Everest 2012. The event was held to support the Mount Everest Expedition,which the Giripremi Group from Pune will be scaling next year. While Wadkar sang his evergreen numbers,Marathi number ‘Omkar Swarupa’ and ‘Chappa Chappa Charkha Chale’ from Maachis Shende sang Marathi songs from the movie Natrang and her much acclaimed song ‘Mann Mohana’ from Jodhaa Akbar.
