Prime Minister Narendra Modi and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Monday attended the International Kite Festival at Sabarmati Riverfront, where the leaders were seen flying kites featuring motifs of both leaders. Kites displaying the flags of the two strategic partner nations and Hindu deities were also on display.
Visuals showed the two leaders flying an ‘Operation Sindoor’-themed kite. A kite depicting Lord Hanuman was also flown by the duo.
Chancellor Merz arrived in India today for a two-day official visit since assuming office. His visit aims to strengthen bilateral ties between India and Germany and coincides with celebrations marking 75 years of diplomatic relations. The two leaders will also review the progress of the India-Germany Strategic Partnership, which recently completed 25 years.
Their discussions are expected to focus on boosting collaboration in trade and investment, technology, education, skills development, and mobility, while also deepening ties in defense and security, science and innovation, sustainable development, and cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
