Swig,at North Main Road,Koregaon Park,is gearing the city up for the Bacardi NH7 Weekender. A pre-party is being held at this resto-lounge with Ankur Tewari on November 2,8.30 pm onwards. What one can look forward to is soulful,acoustic,folk rock-n-roll tunes. When he is not busy screenwriting for Bollywood,Tewari jams with his dysfunctional yet joined-at-the-hip band – Ghalat family. Ankur & the Ghalat family comprises Sidd Coutto,Johan Pais,Gaurav Gupta and Tewari. To raise spirits at the gig,Swig has happy hours between 7 and 9 pm. Time to rock-n-roll!
The new rockstars
MTV Indepence Rock,aka I-Rock,is back on its hunt for the ultimate rockstars from across the nation. The rock music festival will tour Bengaluru,Kolkata,New Delhi,Mumbai and Pune from November 7 to 10. Actor Imran Khan launched the call for entries. A rocker at heart,I’m hoping to see some great new bands along with old favourites, he said. Amateur rock bands will be given a chance to compete in the grand finale through an MTS Red Energy Wild Card entry by logging on to mtsredenergy.com. Eight bands from each zone will compete against one another for the regional winner spot. The five regional winners,along with the wild card entry band,will then battle it out at the finale to be held on November 26 in Mumbai.
Kareena meets Kareena
Kareena Kapoor unveiled her new wax figure at Madame Tussauds Blackpool to mark the launch of the museum’s Bollywood exhibition,which will be on display till January 2012. The museum was crowded with ardent fans of the actress waiting to get a glimpse of their favourite film star along with her wax replica. It is an honour and privilege for me to have my own wax figure at Madame Tussauds Blackpool, said Kareena moments after she unveiled the wax figure which costed £150,000. The figure looks incredibly life-like. I did a double take when I saw myself, she added. A separate room has been dedicated to the Bollywood exhibition which contains life-like wax replicas of Shah Rukh Khan,Hrithik Roshan,Amitabh Bachchan and a new figure of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with Kareena’s wax statue. The Bollywood collection will be shifted to Madame Tussauds in Bangkok after January 2012.
Konkan on Canvas
From November 5-7,Art India Foundation will conduct a Landscape Painting Camp at Konkan. The ‘Colours of Konkan’ will come alive at Shrivardhan and Diveagar with on-the-spot watercolour and acrylic landscape painting and photography. Mentored by artist Sandeep Yadav,whose forte is landscape,still life and figurative paintings in watercolour and acrylic mediums,participants will receive guidance from him as they unleash their creativity.
