The International Collector’s Society of Rare Items will organise a competitive exhibition,Coinex – Pune 2010,from December 3 5 at Sonal Hall,Karve Road. Participants from all over the country will display their collections under nine categories – Ancient,Medieval,Sultanate,Maratha and so on. Avinash Ramteke and Dileep Rajgore will judge the collections based on various points like quality,variety and availability. Epigraphist and numismatist,Shobhnatai Gokhale,will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her contribution to this field. The exhibition will be inaugurated by eminent numismatist,Shauheen Daya. On the second day,Oswal Antiques will hold an auction at 6 pm for which more than 40 lots of Maratha coinage have been listed. “Shivaji’s Golden Hon will also be displayed at the exhibition for the first time in Pune,” says S R Bhat,member of the society. “It is also a good opportunity for collectors as 35 eminent coin and paper money dealers will be present at the venue,” he adds. The exhibition will go on from 10 am to 7 pm on all three days.
Starry evening
It seems to be the golden era for Marathi movies as new subjects and out of the box ideas are being implemented. And with a number of movies being released every month,the industry seems to be thriving,with Pune being the epicentre of the celebrations. Reflecting the same,the premiere of director Gajendra Ahire’s film Sumbaran was recently held in the city. It was a well-attended eventand those present included the film’s star cast – Ravindra Mankani,Sai Tamhankar,Vrinda Gajendra Ahire,Mukta Barve,Seema Deshmukh,Shushrut Mankani and Swarili Patil. Music director Rahul Ranade and compiler Rahul Bhatnakar were also present along with photographer Surya Mishra.
