It’s raining awards
It’s a story of a 40-year-old,bed-ridden and disabled Yogendra, and about the insecurity that his parents go through about what will happen to him after they are gone. The story,in the form of a film titled Three of Us,touched all hearts as it was declared first in the mentally challenged category at 6th Competitive We Care Film fest 2009,which was held in New Delhi. Three of Us is the touching tale of the indomitable spirit of a family and was part of the diploma programme at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). Directed by Umesh Kulkarni, the film was also selected as one out of two FTII films to be screened at the Indian Panorama at the International Film Fest last year. And it also won the Patton Award for Best Indian Film during the 6th Kalpanirjhar International Short Fiction Film Festival held in Kolkata.

Bejewelled!
The fascination for jewellery has always been symbolical of the fair sex. To add some more colour and imagination to this facination,Preeti P has come up with an array of alluring designs in her exhibition at Salunke Vihar,Wanowrie. The exquisite pieces include a range of handcrafted kundan, polki, pearl,American diamond and precious stone jewellery in silver with gold plating. Also available is jadau one gram gold jewellery. The exhibition cum sale is a fusion of ethnic and modern designs. While kundan, polki and jadau are completely Indian,American diamonds are all set for an Indo-Western look. “The exhibition has no theme as such, but is aimed at Raksha Bandhan and Ganpati Festival in August. In fact, some of the pieces are carved in the shape of Ganpati,” says designer Preeti. The fair, which started on June 28,will be on till July 3. Shoppers can check out over the glitterring pieces at the exhibition from 10 am to 9 pm.
