Mood melody
Emotions are much more strong than we think- feels noted artiste Madhuri Bhaduri,who is currently exhibiting her paintings as a preview of her exhibition that is scheduled on February 16 in Mumbai. The exhibition was inaugurated by Warner Speigel,managing director,KSB Pump. Titled- Madhuri Bhaduri,The Theme- In Backdrop- On Canvas,the exhibition’s subject is the artist’s thoughts and moods,which are extensively inspired by traveling. “In total,it took me around one-and-a- half year to make these paintings that reflect my moods on various occasions,through landscapes. The experiment with colours is evident,” she says,adding,”I am showcasing my paintings in Pune after a long gap and this is specially for those who have so far accepted my creations and wanted to know about my recent works.”
Clash of the tigers
The Tiger Corporate Cricket Clash 2009 is a seven-a-side softball night cricket tournament with gully cricket rules. The action will be on between February 21 and 28 at the Corinthian Club. Every year,32 of Pune’s top companies participate in this tournament. Last year’s winners- The Post 91 Raiders are out to defend their title this year. There are special prizes for Tiger of the Match,spectator catches and an all-expenses paid holiday for the entire winning team in Panchgani.
All round fun
Sports and hobbies going together might sound a bit unorthodox but for the students of the AFMC,Silhouettes 09 promises to give in all this and more. The annual festival and the All India inter-medical basketball tournament that started on February 11 will go on till February 17. Lt Gen Shiv Kumar Sharma SM VSM,director and Commandant,AFMC,inaugurated the festival on Wednesday. According to Major General Gautam Ravindranath VSM,dean and deputy Commandant,AFMC,”Silhouettes is being organised on an unprecedented scale in 2009 by Medical Cadets of T2 Batch. The festival,which is expected to attract participants from all major educational institutions in Pune,will include a number of cultural events.”Several eminent personalities from the world of the performing arts and celebrities that include names like- Sandeep Soparkar,Jesse Randhawa and Manasi Scott will judge the competitions.
Night of the devil
The Scary Nite Party that took place recently was a great sucess! The decor and the complete scary look of the place attracted a lot of people. The party started at around 9 pm with a ghost welcoming all on the entry. A lot of couples entered half way and wished to enter the place from the back gate to avoid the scary experience. The guests at the entry were given a broom stick as souvenir. The highlight for the evening was the experience when lights and sound suddenly went off at 12,and the ghost entered the crowd taking away everyone’s breath. The scary event was enjoyed by over 300 plus guests present. The party was hosted by Sandeep Dharma. Also present were- Tehseen Poonawalla,Geeta and Naresh Parwani,Kiran and Rhea Punjabi and manny others.
Winning ways!
Ramdas Bhatkal of Popular Prakashan has been bestowed upon with the inaugural- Late P Bhagwat Award for his contribution to the publication industry. He was recently presented with the award at the hands of the Harshvardhan Patil,state cultural minister. The award consists of a certificate,a memento and a cash award of Rs one lakh. Speaking about the award Bhatkal says,”It’s a honour to have received this award because everything that I have learnt from the publication industry has finally been recognised. I am grateful for it.” Those present for the event were known faces from the fields of politics and literature like Sunil Tatkari,Ajay Ambekar,Uday Samant and Madhu Karnik.
