That the city is home to innumerable young achievers is no secret. Adding another name to the long list of go-getters from Pune is a young woman who has made her mark in the international arena. After Sherron Francis Furtado,a student of St Annes High School graduated in physiotherapy from the Sancheti Institute College of Physiotherapy, she applied for a short stint at the Sancheti Institute of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation. Thereafter, she set her sights on doing post-graduation in musculo-skeletal physiotherapy. And thats how she applied to the Sheffield Hallam University,in Sheffield,England,UK. Ill be pursuing M Sc in Applying Physiotherapy (Musculoskeletal) through Edwise International Counsellors and shall be leaving India shortly to pursue my studies, says Furtado.
Simultaneously,I also applied for the International Achievement Scholarship to be awarded by the aforesaid University. The University requested the candidates to apply for the scholarship by submitting the International Achievement Scholarship Application form. This included their academic record, right from SSC,HSC and graduation, their IELTS score and a description of their most significant personal, academic and professional achievements, she adds.
Having excelled in her academic activities right since school days,Furtado has also been a keen sportsperson. She has participated in the Pune International Marathon for three consecutive years,in the World Junior Badminton Championship matches and the Inaugural All-India and South Asia Womens Rugby matches. On the basis of the decision by the University,Sherron has been declared to be the scholarship recipient of 1000 Great Britain Pounds(£). A ceremony will be held in December 2009,where Ill be presented with a certificate and the said cheque will also be issued to me. Its one of the most memorable achievements of my life, smiles Furtado.
