Pune’s first-ever inclusive marathon ‘Run InSync’, that will see the participation of persons with disabilities with others, will be held at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) campus on February 8.
Around 5,000 participants, including over a thousand Persons with Disabilities (PwD) are likely to participate in the event being organised by Adventures Beyond Barriers Foundation (ABBF) and Social Ventures Partners (SVP), Pune Chapter.
The participants will be supported by two people throughout their run, ensuring a safe experience.
ABBF is a non-profit organisation founded by Divyanshu Ganatra, India’s first solo blind pilot and first blind pillion cyclist to complete the Manali to Khardung La pass. ABBF aims to integrate persons with disabilities into mainstream life through sports.
The marathon starts at 6 am and is being conducted in three categories — 3km, 5km, and 10km—with free registration for PwDs and Rs 500 for other participants.
Run InSync aligns with SVP Pune’s 10th-anniversary theme of ‘Celebrate Diversity and Inclusion: Breaking down the Barriers’.
