The rat race for admissions to pre-primary classes will soon start in the city with schools all set to start the process by next week or in December.
Officials said the recommendations made in the report of the high-power government committee on pre-primary education in the state will not be implemented in the coming academic year. The admissions to the pre-primary classes can be conducted as per the policy of schools. But the schools will have to reserve 25 per cent seats under Right to Education Act and for admissions to these seats they will have to wait for our notification. On the remaining 75 per cent seats, they can conduct admissions as per their schedule, said Mahavir Mane,Director,Primary Education.
A 21-member committee, headed by Minister of State for School Education Fauzia Khan, had submitted a report on regulating pre-primary education in the state. We have given suggestions but the government has not accepted it yet. Hence, the recommendations cannot be implemented in the coming academic year. The schools can conduct admissions as per their schedule, said Khan.
Nursery admissions at the Millennium School will begin by next week. Parents can access our website to seek information regarding the admission process, said Arpita Karkare,Director,Millennium School.
