Panthers beat Baramati Powers

The Pimpri Panthers defeated Baramati Powers by 47 runs in the Pune District Premier League match at the Deccan Gymkhana Ground on Monday.

Batting first,the Pimpri Panthers scored at a brisk pace to ensure that their team got off to a solid start riding on a 100-run partnership between Niranjan Godbole and Prashant Pol. Both the batsmen ensured that they were always in the hunt for a good total on a good batting pitch. Niranjan sent the bowlers on a leather hunt by scoring at will to get 57 runs off 45 balls,while Pol played a much more controlled innings for a well-made 39 off 39 balls to ensure that the scoreboard kept ticking.

The Panthers managed to score 163 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Sachin Mane rattled the Panthers middle order to take 4 wickets for 30 runs.

In reply,the Powers faced some tight bowling as the run rate kept climbing. Rajendra Divekar (43) and Harshal Gandre (26 off 24 balls) tried hard to bring the match back in their grasp but it was too late. They could only manage 117 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their stipulated quota. After his heroics with the bat,Niranjan Godbole also took two important wickets for the Panthers thereby earning him the second man of the match in three games.

In another match,the Chakan Royals won comfortably against the Goel Ganga Camp Warriors,by eight wickets. Camp warriors scored 130 runs. The Royals achieved their target in 19.2 overs,losing just two wickets.
