The online voter registration drive for the University of Punes forthcoming elections to various governing bodies has hit a snarl, with voters facing various difficulties in registering the names owing to technical glitches.
Several students organisations in the city, including the Students Welfare Association,Maharashtra Vidyarthi Parishad and the NCP students wing,on Monday handed over a memorandum in this regard to UoP Vice Chancellor RK Shevgaonkar.
The elections to the various executive councils and boards of the varsity will be held in August and the UoP has launched an online registration drive. However, the voters who wish to register their names in the graduates category have claimed that the website has many technical glitches. There are around 32,000 voters in the graduate category.
According to the memorandum, the application form does not mention where to attach the required documents. Also, there is no guideline on how to find a name from the old voters list. And though the name of the college has to be mentioned compulsorily,no instructions have been given to external students on how to register their names, it said.
