Lavasa school for underprivileged

The Christel House Lavasa School was inaugurated on Wednesday at Lavasa by Ajit Gulabhchand.

The Christel House Lavasa School was inaugurated on Wednesday at Lavasa by Ajit Gulabhchand,chairman and managing director,Hindustan Construction Co (HCC) and Christel De Haan,founder,Christel House.

The school has been operational since July 19 and will benefit children from 18 villages around Lavasa. Along with free education,they are provided with free transport,breakfast and healthcare facilities. “At present,there are 152 students in the school,from kindergarten to Class II. We are planning to add a class every year. The school currently follows the Maharashtra State Board curriculum but will eventually opt for the CBSE Board,” said principal Nalini Garg.

Christel House Lavasa is the second venture of Christel House India after the one in Bangalore. De Haan said,“This is a special moment for Christel House and also for all the students and their parents. We will strive to transform the students into ideal citizens of this country.”

Gulabchand termed the initiative as an “extraordinary opportunity for the children to compete with any child globally.”

He added that the school had received 30,000 pounds as settlement to a legal matter.
