When several artists come together to showcase their works,the result is a blend of beauty,emotions,love,anger,response and so on. Their paintings put together start a dialogue,an interaction. This form of communication comes forth at Sanvad,a group art show at Darpan Art Gallery,Patrakar Nagar Lane. On till February 7,the exhibition shows feelings of a mother for her new born child,a river-boat responding to the flow of the river and other obstacles in between,responses by trees,humans and houses to nature and seasons,forms of prayers by humans to the Almighty,and so on and so forth. The paintings,water colours,acrylic and oil paints,demonstrate the unique style of each participating artist. Some of the proceeds from this art show will go to Sanjivani Vidyalaya,Pune.
The Music Game
Music fest Baajaa Gaajaa is back with its fourth edition. The three-day fest will be inaugurated by lyricist Javed Akhtar on February 10. The three days will see performances by 100 artistes across different genres of music and a music conclave with well-known personalities on the panel. Spearheaded by singer Shubha Mudgal and tabla maestro Aneesh Pradhan,Baajaa Gaajaa aims to celebrate music in all its diversity. Each year,we try and present a wide variety of musical styles including rock,blues,jazz,Hindustani vocals and instrumental music, said Mudgal. This year,the festival includes an ‘instant game’ wherein classical musicians will compose a tune on the spot. Last year,we had organised ‘Classical Antakshari,so this year we thought of doing something different,” Mudgal added. The event will see performances by Adil and Vasundhara,Pink Noise,Soulmate and others.
The Conspiracy Unfolds
City-based novelist Dr Manjiri Prabhu has penned a new English novel – ‘The Cavansite Conspiracy’. This book will be released at the hands of Siddhartha Jain,CEO and producer,iRock Media,followed by a live visual depiction of the book reading by famed artist Milind Mulick at Crosswords bookstore,Senapati Bapat Road on February 5. The book traces the story of the theft of the precious mineral stone,the Cavansite,from the Crystal Museum of Minerals. The protagonist – Koyal Karnik,a communications lecturer,arrives in Pune to attend her friend’s wedding. She gets implicated in the theft. It is a journey of mystery and love and describes her attempts to prove her innocence.
