First ‘ringan’ in Pimpri

The PCMC said it has made special arrangements for the stay of Sant Tukaram palkhi in the town. Mayor Yogesh Behl said for the first time,the Sant Tukaram palkhi would stay in the industrial hub for two days. On June 23,the palkhi,like every year,will stay at Akurdi and on June 24 at Sant Tukaram Nagar,Pimpri. The mayor said at both places warkaris would be lodged in civic schools where the arrangements for drinking water and food have been made. He said the first ringan (circle of warkaris) is likely to be held at H A Ground in Pimpri. “This would be first ‘ringan’ of its kind in Pimpri-Chinchwad. It will be a moment of pride for the entire town. CCTVs have been installed and security will be beefed up during the stay of palkhis in the town.”

Palkhi Timeline

* The Sant Tukaram Palkhi will leave Dehu on Wedneday,but will stay in the town the same day.

* It will arrive at Akurdi on June 23 and then at Sant Tukaram Nagar on June 24.

* On June 25,it will leave for Pune city.

* Likewise,the Sant Dnyaneshwar palkhi will leave the temple premises on June 23.

* It will stay in Alandi on June 23 and June 24 and leave for Pune city on June 25.

* Both the palkhis will leave Pune city for Pandharpur on June 27.
